I'm running Road Attacks after getting no confidence from the pirelli's like badga. Great mileage out of them.

I've found Essential Rubber superb for both price and service. Handy for the city too. Very popular with couriers which I guess is a good sign.

Rear tyre was £90 fitted on bike.

Have any of you tried the Road Attacks and the Avons? I just wonder which are better before I buy?? The chances of any of you trying both tyres is probably slim but it is worth a try...
BTW the 2 wheels lot have never bothered to respond to my email.

I have never tried other tyres than the 2 original pirelli and didn't like them and Maxxis which I liked but they last very little and now I am in my own little heaven with the Avon Distanzia, they last long, grip like **** on a blanket and I would never go back to anything else, but tyres are just a personal thing, so... everyone here has their own preferences.

Too right Fran, it is interesting that a couple of people say the have no confidence in the Pirellis, I have worn out my boot toe sliders with mine and wouldn't use anything else.

I agree on the fact that the pirelli work well but they just wear so quickly and tend to square off after 700 miles.

AJT660, have you ridden yours in the wet? (Silly question, I know the answer already ). I have very little faith cornering in my Pirellis when the road is wet. I need a tyre that is good in the wet and dry because I commute rain or shine.
Both the Avon's and the Road Attack's seem to be good in the wet going by what others have said. Quite a few people have said the Pirellis are a bit hairy in the wet.

2500 miles, one front and two rears, not the longest lasting tyres i'll admit!!

I did ride in the wet a couple of times on the mtr01/02 that were originally fitted, didn't seem a major issue to me. But I really dont go out when it is raining!!! i think it spoils a good run!!

I have just called up my local bike tyre place and they say the Distanzia have been replaced by Avon Viper Sport (His words, not mine). He quoted me £220 for a pair including fitting, ride in - ride out.
The road attack he will do for £200.92 for a pair, ride in - ride out.
Looking at Buck's link above, he is using Conti SM tyres which are different to the Conti Road Attacks, so now I am confused??? I do high mileage and if people are getting 1000 to 1500 miles from a tyre then I will be changing tyres every 2 weeks, which I can't afford!
