Sold the XTR earlier this week after 7 years.


Its been a great reliable bike but I decided to upgrade to a Tiger 800.


I gotta be honest .. the XT wasn't the easiest bike...

Cracked lower triple clamp

Just noticed that my lower triple clamp on my XTR has a crack in it.

Been feeling a bit of vibration lately and now I think i know why.

Any one replaced one and have any idea what it costs?

I bought a $2 broom handle and sharpened it as suggested. ... worked a treat and a simple fix.... 😊

Now to get new clips... mine are totally rusted through. I wasn't expecting...

Evening all

So I removed my front shocks today to change the leaking seals.

Read up a few posts and used the drill to remove the bottom bolt...

I gave up loooong ago...

Even with all the levers and tools it's bloody hard work..

The Michelin T63 keep on going

Over 5k on the T63's and they are still giving....

I Will definitely get another set even if its for on road.

Very confident in the wet on road and a good mix for off road.

It ended up taking about 3.3L in the end...

Now it's showing on the filler stick.

Don't know why the service manual says 2.9L...?

Nope .... Filter was bone dry when I got it.

When I bought my son a K&N it came with a small tube of filter oil.

WTF they don't include it in the box or already lubed I don't know...

XTR oil quantity...?

Servicing the bike after my trip...

Drained all the oil and removed the oil filter.

Left overnight to drain...

Service manual says to use 2.6L with a change over oil filter.. total of 2.9L...

The TKC's are very popular but also very pricey.

I just completed 1500 km off road on the T63 on mud, gravel, water , rivers and found them to be just fine.

Hi all

Just completed a gruelling 5 day NSW offroad trip on the XTR

All together we covered 1500km with about 80% offroad

Conditions were hot to miserable cold and WET...

Pirelli MT21 only comes in a 120/90 or a 130/90

Both will be slightly higher then standard
